Do you like taking long walks in the woods but don’t want to worry about the weather or not making it home before dark?
If the answer is “yes” then, these shoes are perfect for you. The Sibling Collective created a pair of sneakers called Walking Shelter that double as a tent. The tent is stored in net pockets within the shoes and expands out and around the body to make an enclosure using your body as the support for the structure. These sneakers may look a little weird, but don’t judge too quickly. Think of the ways they could be used. If a natural disaster hits, you have shelter. If you’re homeless, you have some privacy while you sleep. Backpacking across Europe? No need to pack a bulky tent. And guess what? This nifty tent can be repacked back into the shoes when you’re done and reused over and over.
These shoes are not available on the market yet, but the prototype was auctioned off to raise money for a children’s art therapy school called Little Seeds Big Trees, so we are hoping it will be available to the public soon. Adventure seekers, keep an eye out!
