The “Jetsons” appears to be headed back to the television in a live-action reboot of the Hanna-Barbera classic animated TV show. You read that right! It appears that ABC ordered a put pilot for the show has plans for it to be multi-camera sitcom based 100 years in the future! The crew working behind the scenes will include Gary Janetti. Gary wrote for and produces shows such as “Will & Grace” and “Family Guy”. If we can gauge the caliber of this upcoming sitcom based on these prior shows he has worked on, it should be great. Who doesn’t love Family Guy? The executive producer for this new adaption is Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke.

The Jetsons then and now.
The ‘Jetsons” aired on ABC from 1962-1963 and there were a total of 24 episodes in the series. The show was intended to be a counterpart for the per-historic “Flintstones” tv show at the time. The show was canceled in 1963, however was rebooted with 41 episodes by Hanna-Barbera in 1985. The Jetsons was also adapted to feature films in 1990 with Jetsons: The Movie and The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-Wrestlemania (which was released earlier this year). There is also another animated feature-film adaption of the show currently in production. This project is a combination of efforts from Warner Bros. and Conrad Vernon, writer of Sausage Party and Shrek 2. There is no current release date for this movie, but is exciting none the less.
There have been several attempts, it seems to reboot the series again since then. This, however, appears to be the best indication that a reboot is scheduled to actually occur. We can’t wait!
